Kettering Town Midlands 9v9 Tournament - Saturday 23rd June

Team photo

After failing to arrange a friendly for this day, we managed to get into this tournament as a late entry.  The tournament had 9 teams from as far as York and Bedford, so we thought it would be a good test for us playing some teams we have never met before.  Mind you there was one team that looked familiar  (The Tawnys had entered).  A number of coaches and parents from the other teams, complimented our lads on there passing style of football.

We were rewarded for our good football by ending up as champions.  The tournament was played with all teams meeting each other on a league basis (top of the league being champions).  We won 5 of our games and drew three, with no goals conceded in the 8 games.  The only negative on the day was a nasty knee injury for Jovan  (we all hope he recovers from that soon).

Well done to all the lads, our second trophy of the summer.

Wythall Juniors Tournament (Birmingham) - Sunday 17th June 2012

To try ourselves out against some different opposition, we decided to travel to Birmingham for a tournament.  The teams had been split on a seeding basis (based on form in the Warickshire League), the organisers put the two non-Warickshire teams (ourselves and St Andrews, in the Champions League), the stronger teams in the Champions League the others in the Europa cup.

In very short games (15mins) a lot of the games ended 1-0 or 0-0 as there was little time to impose yourself.  We won 2 games, drew one and lost one.  I think it would be fair to say that even in the game we lost we played the better football of all the teams in the tournament and slightly longer games could well of seen us imposing ourselves more.

As it is we ended runners up to the host team.  The lads all played well and should be proud of themselves.

Loughborough Dynamo Tournament - Sunday 20th May.

On a dry but cloudy day, we entered our first 'Summer Tournament'.  There were 8 teams entered in two leagues of four.  A fair range of teams with three from Leicestershires division 1, a Nottingham side, an invitation team and three from lower Leicestershire leagues.  We won our group with two wins and a draw, without conceding a goal. The lads played some excellent football.

Our Quarter Final against Loughborough Dynamo was tighter than it should've been, we ended up winning just by the one goal.

The Semi-final against Wigston United, didn't start well, with us conceding our first goal of the Tournament.  We managed to get back in control and won 3-1.

In the final we met St Andrews.  In a good game after a long day we came out on top 2-1.  Well done to all the lads, they were deserved winners.  A good start to our 'summer', lets hope the weather improves.

Ibstock United 1  v Oadby Owls 2 - 3rd May 2012 (League Cup Semi Final)

On a very wet evening our re-arranged semi final was held at Aylestone Parks ground.  The lads were a little nervous but we had confidence we could do it.

Those nerves showed at the start when we conceded an early goal.  However the boys soon settled into their game and Blake got us the equaliser.  Ibstock came at us a few times but our defence coped with what they had to offer. We continued to try to play our passing game and the pitch held up well in the rain.  Harrison then got the goal to put us in the lead.

The second half saw us dominate but we couldn't manage to extend our lead.  We continued to play our good football and were deserved winners even though the score looked tight.  So it's Sileby in the final at Holmes Park on the 27th May.

Player of the Day: Again, well done to all the boys

Goals Scorers: Blake Adam and Harrison Myring

AFC Barwell 0 Oadby Owls 7 - 15th April 2012 (League)

A great way to finish the season on a sunny but cold and windy morning in Barwell.  The lads played some excelent passing football and kept a clean sheet.  We ended up as Division 1's highest scorers in a very respectable 3rd place, close behind Sileby and Aylestone Park.

Player of the Day: As always the whole team

Goals Scorers: Harrison (4), Joel (2) and Alfie
