Oadby Owls Hawks V Oadby Owls Barnys - 2nd May 2013 (Friendly)

The day had arrived! Hawks v's Barnys. There was again a lot of support at Coombe Park, there's even talk of the match being shown on sky for the ever growing support!! It was a very worm April afternoon with all the children in good spirits and was eager to start the game

The Hawks got the game underway and they were flying, being awarded two quick corners but the attack was dealt with by Morgan and then they were in turn away down the field and causing the Hawks keeper Harry to make an amazing save. The Hawks  were once again on the attack with a pass from Kaian witch found Harvey just outside the box with a right footed shot the ball dipped over the Barnys defence  all that Levi could do was to watch the ball go in (what a goal )

The Barnys were off and away at the restart and had 3 quick shots from Josh and Victor all just going wide of the Hawks goal and then Harry makes another impressive save. There was then an impressive spell of midfield play as Sam, Eric and Dylan were strong in midfield and showed their usual determination to win balls and to chase them down. Sam was all over the Hawks at times and refused to let dead balls go. Josh then had another shot that hit the post but the ball was only going one way in the net the Barnys where back in it. With some more excellent midfield play led to the ball coming in to the Barnys half and a mistake by defence with a mistimed back pass saw the Hawks capitalise and the first shot was saved by Levi

The half time team talk followed the usual pattern and a bit of reshuffling of players to try them out in different positions seeing Levi and Harvey moving to midfield

The Hawks were like lightening at the restart and Kaian had a shot saved within minutes and then the Hawks were once more relentlessly attacking the Barnys goal and saw another great save by Alex. The Barnys were awarded a free kick and Reece stepped up to take this, he struck the ball sweetly and everyone watched as it was arcing through the air and around the defence and found the feet of Josh with a first time shot the ball swerved beautifully into the bottom corner!!!

The Hawks were on the attack from here with a pass from Caiden that found its way to Kaian who skipped past one then two witch found himself one on one with the Barnys keep keeping his nerves and slid the ball in to the back of the net. Straight from kick off the Hawks found them self-getting a corner with Harvey swinging the ball in the was not that Levi could do to stop the ball coming of his back and going in this did not let the Barnys heads drop with Reece letting go with a shot the Hawks defence cleared the ball but Sam was on his toes as the ball was cleared it come off  Sam’s leg there was note the Hawks keeper could not do not to stop the ball going in you could see the smile on Sam’s face as he ran off doing the gangnam style goal celebration. Thankfully as the Hawks kept on attacking the Barnys goal the defence of Morgan and Nikita with support from Reece who was now in defence was first rate. Sam who’s always on top form was on top form as always and Eric carried on last week’s impressive performance this week as well and cleared some amazing balls. Levi made some impressive runs down the wing and at one point it looked like he was going to put the ball in the back of the net as well as skipping past a load of the Hawk's.

Player of the day was Sam he kept running all game closing every ball down Sam is a player who all ways plays with a smile on his face and one hell of a goal celebration.

Oadby Owls Eagles V Oadby Owls Barnys - 28th April (Friendly)

There was massive support today for both teams as a friendly game lay ahead; both teams were looking forward to a friendly game of football on home turf.

The game got underway and immediately it was proving to be a great game of football as both teams showed some real skill and promise on the ball and there was end to end football from both teams, however the Barnys made a break with Victor and attacked the Eagles goal resulting in a corner which led to a great game from Scott who was in goal today the Barnys kept at it again with Sam forcing Scott to make an excellent save that showed how impressive he is in goal.

The Eagles were on the attack and this ended with Myles rattling the upright with a shot, now back  up the other end with the Barneys attacking with a ball played down the wing from Dylan who found the feet of Josh who let go with a powerful shot but it was  another grate save from Scott only to release the Eagles down the field and Ben for the Barneys was excellent in defence and the Barneys were again attacking with Recce who found himself with only one to beat but the Eagles defence was on top form  only for possession to change hands again and the Eagles to attack the Barneys goal and for the Barneys defence of Morgan and Ben  to show how strong they are, the first half drew to a close.

The second half got under way much the same as the first started with end to end play but Jack made an impressive run down the wing from the half way line to show what a first rate player he is, the eagles were back on the attack but this was dealt with excellently by defensive pairing of Kaylen and Zane who are both always rock solid in defence.

The Eagles were away again and Jack had a shot that was just wide of the post after taking a deflection of Reece, corner awarded and Myles was also just wide of the post, the Eagles were strong onto the ball from the goal kick and had another attack but the ball was cleared off the line by Harvey after beating the keeper. The Eagles were still on it though and George had a shot on goal that was picked up by the keeper, the Barnys were then charging down the pitch with Eric in possession of the ball which resulted in a corner the ball was but in to the box by Alex but some strong defending from Zane seen the ball knocked l.

However the Barnys were relentless at the Eagles goal with a pass from Umar witch found its way to  Eric who hit a sweet strike which had Scott beaten for once and found the back of the net, the Barnys were joyous but the Eagles heads went up at this and they were attacking the Barneys goal, being awarded a corner but this was dealt with and released the Barnys to attack with Nikita the Eagles once more but the defence held strong and the Eagles were away once more with Myles having a shot that was cleared but not completely dealt with, Zane also had a shot but the ball went out for a goal kick. There was a forced change in keeper for the barneys that saw Levi going in goal to take the goal kick, but once more the Eagles were on it and Alf had a shot that was just over the bar.

The Barneys were away and running up field with Reece but the Eagles defence dealt with this once more and the Eagles were on the attack that showed some amazing defending from Morgan and Sam the Barnys team but the ball was picked up by the Eagles and Jack had another shot that was just wide. The goal kick for Levi saw the Barneys attacking the Eagles again and forced Scott to make another brilliant save and saw the Eagles attacking the Barnys and Jack with the ball at his feet he had a shot but the barneys defence were strong once more and the Barnys had an attack with Josh rung past two that saw some brilliant defending from Myles, he seemed to be all over the pitch today as seconds later he was in the Barneys half having a shot on goal that went just wide and then another seconds later from the goal kick.

This time the goal kick went up-field and somehow found the feet of josh who put a cross in the box were Eric hit the ball first time and he once more found the back of the net for the Barnys. There was some excellent midfield play from Josh both teams and then there was a handball on the wing, free kick to the Eagles, taken by Jack, who took an amazing free kick but there was no one in space to get on the end of it, but the loose ball was picked up by the Eagles and they put some pressure on the Barnys but they showed strength and came out with the ball for another attack on the Eagles but the defence and midfield were brilliant as always and Alf made some good turns with the ball to get out a tricky spot and put the ball into the box where Zane had a shot on goal then went just wide of the post, the Eagles were attacking the Barnys goal with force but the Barneys were strong, With Sam Reece and Harvey at the back clearing the ball to in the Eagles half but then Jack had time for another run down the wing by jack for one more attack but the final whistle bought this friendly to an end.

This was an excellent game of football by two strong Oadby teams that showed some real promise from the players on both sides and made all the coaches and parents proud as the children showed their maturity in this fixture. Well done both Oadby teams!!!!!

Allexton & New Parks V Oadby Owls Barnys - 24th April 2013 (Friendly)

The sun was shining as the Barnys were on the road again for a midweek friendly against a club where there have been numerous meetings before. There was a lot of travelling support again as the pitch side was crammed with supporters for the teams. The Barnys started keenly & were rewarded with a goal within the first 5 minutes from Josh with a Goal from out of nowhere. The game was pacey and the Barnys needed to dig in and work together as a team. Sam took a lovely corner which Morgan tried in vain to convert to a further goal. Reece continued to work hard across the midfield, wiping out many Allexton attempts with his determined tackling & tireless running. With Eric playing his first game for the Barnys he let rip with a shot just from inside his own half there was no way that the keeper would keep that out (David Beckham eat your heart out )The Barnys could have put this game to bed before half time if it wasn't for the heroics of the Allexton keeper

The 2nd half started with the Barnys going all out with a cross coming in from Josh Eric hit the ball first time there was note the keeper could do to keep the ball out of the net with Morgan and Reece  at the back Allexton where finding it hard to get the ball near the Barnys goal . over the last 6 months I have seen the Barnys play in some very good games but to nights match has got to one of the best they dug in deep and kept fighting till the end with every player giving 120% with a wonder goals coming from Josh and Eric and Morgan Ben and Reece all playing well it was hard to pick a player of the day but Morgan on the day was on top form with blocking every ball that come his way well done Morgan

2nd Half

With the Barnys resting some player saw Umar , Morgan and Nikita all coming on and Josh  swooping in goal for Ben .the Barnys started of where they left off with a shot coming in from just outside the box the  keeper did all he could to tip the ball round the post . With Harvey and Morgan running the midfield the Barnys pressed hard with shot after shot coming in but it was like Broughton had 11 players on the pitch.

With Umar nicking the ball just inside the Barnys half he skipped past one then laid the ball of two Josh who let go with a shot which was blocked by Broughton who were soon on the bake with only one Barnys defender to beat Broughton let go with a first time shot the Barnys keeper did not see that one coming as the ball hit the back of the net. this was a game that both teams played well with some good passing and some very good runs the Barnys hit the post from a shot from Josh and some world class saves from Josh it was going to be hard to pick a player of the day with all the Barnys players playing well but there was one player that stood out was Reece with some good shots and runs down the wing. Rugby Tigers V Oadby Owls Barnys - 3rd February 2013 (Friendly)

Oadby traveled down the M1 to Rugby for this friendly against Rugby Tigers. After the last match the boy's confidence was high and they started the game in the same manner that they finished the last with Reece being named captain for two days match. Rugby was to kick off not long in to the match the ball fell to the feet of Adam who skipped past two rugby player to find himself in the box with every Rugby play running back Adam looked to shoot as he was about to hit the ball a Rugby defender stepped in to block the ball but somehow the ball found its way to Reece who hit the ball with some power with a shot like that I don’t think Jo Heart would have stopped that one. Rugby did not let their heads drop with a pass in to the box and a snap shot the ball just went narrowly wide. With the Barnys going all out Morgan and Ben linking up well the ball was played down the right wing with a cross finding it was just outside the box with a first time shot from Victor the ball hit the back of the net with the Barnys playing with a lot confidence the game was only going to get better with Reece and Josh at the back Rugby where finding it hard to get a site on goal with Adam running the midfield with a quick pass from Reece Adam found himself one on one with the Rugby keeper with Adam keeping his calm he placed the ball in the bottom left corner just be for half time Rugby found them self on top of the game with pass after pass being cut out by Morgan and Reece then the brake game with a long pass up the wing from Ben the ball looked like it was going to go out till out of nowhere Reece popped up to keep the ball in with only two to beat Reece kept his calm and hit the ball with his left foot the ball hit the inside of the post there was note the Rugby keeper could do.

the 2nd half kicked off with Nikita coming on for Morgan and Adam making way for Alfie the Barnys started the half with shot after shot raining down on the Rugby keeper with Josh moving to up front, It did not take long for the Lionel Messi of Oadby to make his make on the game with a one on one Josh slid the ball home. There were several more goals by the Barnys with goals coming from Alfie and Josh. The Rugby team worked very hard and stayed positive throughout. The Barnys are a team that improves every match and more games on the way teams beware of the mighty BARNYS. Glen Villa V Oadby Owls Barnys - 27th January 2013 (Friendly)

On freezing cold and windy Sunday morning Oadby traveled to Fleckney sports center. With most roads around Fleckney being flooded that Oadby fans still turned out in force. With Morgan missing the match due to him celebrating his 7th birthday (happy birthday from all the Barnys team) this meant that Reece would stepping in to the center back spot for the first time. The match started off with both ends going all out attack. With the Barnys playing  a 3,2,1 Reece,Alex and Ben at the back Glen villa where finding it hard to get past the back 3 of Oadby. The first chance off the game come to Oadby with a pass from the right wing from Sam court the villa team out this left Josh One on One with the villa keeper with a shot from the out side of his boot the ball just missed the post with a fast goal kick the Barnys where court napping with a shot from just out side the box there was note that William could do to stop the ball from going in. The Barnys did not let their heads drop with attack after attack coming from the Oadby team with Dylan and Harvey running the midfield and Reece being as strong as a brick wall at the back letting note get past him the first half soon come to an end as a big fan of football it was a very enjoyable first half to watch with both teams playing with a smile on their face .

2nd half

The Barnys making some changes with Ben going in goal and William moving to center back with recce and Umar coming on to give Sams legs a rest. The 2nd half started the same as the first with both teams going all out with Josh and Nikita running tirelessly one minute in defence the next in attack. All their hard work payed off with 25 yard pass to the feet of Dylan he was left to slide the ball home. Glen villa kept going with shot after shot raining down on the Barnys goal with Ben making save after save . The all of villas hard work payed of with a corner that was wiped in with pace there was nothing Ben could do but watch the ball go over his head with Reece looking like he played in center back week in week out the villa team had to work hard to try and get passed the wall of the mighty Reece. With Alex coming of the bench meant that the Barnys where going to a 2,3,1 with Harvey and Umar seeing most of the ball. With a bit of look coming to glen villa seen they have a one on one with the Barnys keeper there was nothing Ben could do to stop the ball. With the last kick off the game Alex let rip with a shot that would have made Rooney proud some how found its way in. The player of the day was given to Reece this is a player who has come on a lot over the weeks getting better and better each week Reece is a player who all ways plays with a smile on his face and never gives up on a lost ball with all his hard work paying of with player of the day (keep up the hard work Reece) The Barnys are Team who never give up an fight to the end with a big fan base and all there hard work this is a team that will go far .

Allexton & New Parks Vs Oadby Owls Barnys - 13th January 2013 (Friendly)

On freezing cold Sunday morning Oadby travelled to Allexton & New Parks for our first game of the New Year. Playing on a 3G pitch for the first time, we had a full strength squad to choose from,Sam being the only absentee. Oadby kicked off with a 3 2 1 formation. With defence in mind we knew we were playing a very strong side (remember we have only played three matches so far). Allexton & New Parks started very brightly and soon took the lead but Oadby didn't let their heads drop and carried on getting tackles in.

Again Allexton and New Parks came back with two goals in quick succession but again the Oadby players kept on plugging away. With Josh seeing more of the ball, Alex and Reece flying up and down the wing we seemed to start gain confidence as the game went on with Dylan having Oadby's first attempt on goal with a good shot.

Allexton & New Parks could have put this game to bed before half time if it wasn't for the heroics of William in goal. It was looking as if that would be it for goals as the first half drew to a close but again as in the previous games Josh picked up the ball and had a fantastic run with a good shot at the end of it. GOOOAALL BANG in off the post. With the players tiring the half time whistle blew. Neil made a few substitutions at half time with Morgan coming off for Umar, Ben coming off for Levi and Nikita coming off for Harvey helping us to keep fresh.

2nd Half

Oadby came out in the second half the much stronger team passing the ball around and getting those all important tackles in. Victor came on for Reece and made an instant impact with a good shot on goal that went inches wide. But Allexton & New Parks hit us again with a quick counter attack. Josh had two shots at goal but to no avail. Then Victor got the ball just passed the half way line and ran and ran and stuck the ball in the back of the net giving the keeper no chance GOOOAALL (Come on Oadby we can do it) then Victor popped up again with a good shot only for the keeper to save it. With Oadby pushing hard for another goal, Josh running tirelessly one minute in defence the next in attack. But there was nothing anyone could do with the game becoming more and more stretched Allexton and New Parks scored right at the end. (There where a lot of positives to take from this game and I think once Neil and I get the team training we have a very good bunch of lads so watch this space) With a 7 aside game and a squad of 11 we tried to give all the lads a good turn. So well done to William, Ben, Nikita, Morgan, Alex, Josh, Dylan, Victor, Levi, Umar and Havrey. We don't normally do this as its a team game but the player of the match was Wiliam he played in goal the entire game and if it wasn't for him the score line could have been a lot worse.

Player of the Day:William

Goals Scorers: Josh, Victor.

Oadby Owls Barnys V Blaby Bulls - 18th November 2012 (Friendly)

On an afternoon perfect for football Barnys made a trip to Blaby. The first half started as the Barnys left off in the previous game, with a great tempo and urgency from all team members. Throughout the game, the Bulls were not allowed to get into any particular rhythm as the Barnys were first to every ball. All their hard work paid off of with Sam chasing down a dead ball. Sam only had two to beat when he seen Viktor make a run in to the box with a pass straight to Viktor's feet left him one on one with the keeper. Keeping his calm Viktor placed the ball in the bottom corner. With William taking the sticks for this game this left Ben and Reece keeping the Blaby's defence at bay stopping every think that came their way. Barnys continued the pressure with flying right winger Dylan having a bundle of chances, one particular one was a lovely pass to Nikita with his shot going wide, good work, this got repeated again with a pass to Dylan this time the ball found its way in to the back of the net. The bulls then started to fight back with shots from all over the box but the Barnys where on top form with Morgan and Alex blocking every think that came their way. Barnys continue to put pressure on the bulls in the Midfield with shots on goal from Morgan and Umar. Dylan found himself on the half way line with time to look up. Dylan looked up and hit the ball. Somehow it found its way past all the Bulls players slipping its way past the Bulls keeper that shot would have made David Beckham proud. It did not stop the with Reece and Josh linking playing a one two Josh only had to slot the ball in the back of the net. In the last minute of first half Blaby were given space down the left wing with the player cutting in he was left with a shot on goal somehow the ball found its way in to the net.

The second half saw Harvey switch from midfield to defence and Ben to the wing. Sam was on top form to day with a pass to josh that maid it so easy for josh the slide the ball home. Reece took a long throw in which resulted in a corner. He also took that short to Viktor whom laid it back to Josh who set Sam up once more his shot went just wide again..For a team that had only played three games they looked strong all over the park. This is a team with players that play with a smile on their face. All their hard work from the academy is now starting to showing in the games.

Player of the Day: Every Barnys player

The Barnys started on the back foot with Cropston attacking the Barnys goal with shot after shot the Barnys defence blocking every thing that the Cropston attackers where throwing at them with Morgan and William standing strong.  As the rain started to come down the Barnys battled on with Reece playing a long pass to josh who only had 3 players to beat. This did not stop the Lionel Messi of Oadby running at them skipping past one after one leaving josh  one on one with the Cropston keeper some home the ball just scraped post the Cropston post. The Cropston keeper fast on his feet took a fast goal kick which court the Barnys unaware leaving three Cropston players running at the Barnys goal. Levi stood up strong blocking the first shot but there was note he could do with the rebound as it fell to the Cropston attacker who only had to tap in. The Barnys heads did not drop with Sam and Alfie running the midfield playing the ball in the the Cropston box but no matter what the Barnys throw at the Cropston keeper the ball would just not go in. Then from a rebound of a Cropston defender left them in the Barnys half with only one defender to beat the Cropston attacker let go with a shot that hit the post going Levi . the Barnys fans did there best to keep the players heads up with the chants coming from the side lines the rain was not going to dampen down this match. The Barnys did everything they could with Umar and Alex having shots but it was like there was a brick wall in front of the Cropston goal with block after block being maid. As half time come round the Barnys left the pitch all looking like they had been for a swim but every one still having a smile on there face.

As the second half kicked off the Barnys kept going with attacks from Levi and Alfie just going past the Cropston goal. Cropston pressed on, everyone of the Barnys players got back to help defend, the ball was played in to the edge of the box The Cropston forward was just about to let fly with a shot when levi stepped in to take the ball but to no look as the ball span off with three players all going for the same ball with no one backing down there was a clash. The referee blow his whistle but was it in the box? The referee pointed to the spot. The Cropston player stepped up and hit the ball that hard I don't think even Jo Hart would have stopped it. Straight from kick off Sam played the ball straight down the wing to Reece who crossed the ball in to the Cropston box with a shot coming in from Umar that hit the post falling to the feet of Josh who only had the keeper to beat. Josh kept his calm and slid the ball past the Cropston keeper. On a day that was wet and cold it was nice to see all  the Barnys players play with a smile on there face and kept fighting till the end.
