Oadby Owls Eagles 4 Loughborough Dynamo 0 - 2nd September 2012 (League)

A new season arrived with a great result earned by Eagle’s battling qualities and some typically fine football. Debuts were made by Louis and Bertie who contributed greatly to the success of the days result .

The game was only eight minutes old when Kishan ran onto a smart through ball by Alfie and coolly finished after running from the half way line to start the game wonderfully.

The next fifteen minutes was very tight with some good play by the opponents, although Loughborough only threatened on one or two occasions. This was due to some great defending from Jack who coped admirably with Loughboroughs fine midfielder on the right hand side. Noah and Tom Farrow also ensured there was no way through.

Milad mopped up many attempts to breach our defence and there were some great tackles from Dylan (DJ) our centre forward!

Some changes and a master stroke by Manager Andrew in the latter part of the first half saw Nyall playing a centre forward role and Nyall got one chance a few minutes before half time after great work by DJ on the right, followed by a cross which was met by Nyall’s sweet right foot finish which found the back of the net. A wonderful goal truly deserved by Nyall who works tirelessly in whichever role he is given.

Half Time - Oadby Owls Eagles 2 Loughborough Dynamo 0

The second half continued to see some good play by the Owls and Loughborough.

After ten minutes of early pressure by Loughborough thwarted by Tom Pollard, Jack & Milad with George playing a commanding role in goal. The play soon turned to the other end of the field with chances being created by some good play by Kishan and some telling crosses by Alfie.

“Poacher Noah” typically popped upto score the third goal when the keeper parried another shot into Noah’s path, who finished clinically from a few yards out.

The game continued to ebb and flow and with a few minutes remaining saw a great finish by Tom Farrow, who let fly from well outside the penalty area with his right boot and scored a magnificent goal into the top corner of the goal, which rounded off a great performance and a great result .

This result was even more remarkable due to the limited pre season activity , but, is great credit to all the boys who “defended from the front” and “pushed and pressed” continually to earn the right to play football and secure a well deserved 4-0 victory.

Player of the Day: Jack Rogers who ran and tackled tenaciously. He ensured Loughborough's greatest threats never made any significant impact

Goals Scorers: Kishan, Nyall, Noah and Tom
