Oadby Owls Juniors 9 Syston Town Juniors 0 - 11th November 2012 (League)

The Owls came up against Syston Town today on the back of last weeks brilliant victory in the county cup.

The confidence was evident from the start when Ben Parkinson gave the Owls a deserved lead early in the game. The second goal came quickly when Sam Deacon played a good ball to Ben Parkinson who pulled the ball back for Jack Tart to smash home.

The football by the owls at this point was oustanding and they continued to press. The Owls went 3-0 up when Regan Jeffrey steered home Jack Tart's corner. Jack Tart added the fourth soon after.

Just as Half-time was approaching Sam Deacon made it 5-0 when he ran in from the left and buried the ball over the Syston Keeper's head.

At half time the manager made 5 substitutions. Alex Carlyle, Sam Deacon, Regan Jeffrey, Jack Tart & Ben Parkinson were replaced by Aidan Smillie, Hayden Jones, Priyesh Thakrar, Dylan Sandhu & Lucas Benjamin respectively.

Dylan Sandhu promptly made it 6-0 with his first touch.

By this point the confidence was again flowing as the substitutes settled in well & Hayden Jones calmly slotted the ball in to make it 7-0.

Matthew Ogden made it 8-0 when he popped up in the box to stroke the ball home.

Lewis Massey completed the rout to make it 9-0 when he calmly finished off a great passing move.

Well done lads - 3 clean sheets in a row. Keep up the great performances!!!

Player of the Day: Jack Tart - Outstanding right midfield display

Goals Scorers: Jack Tart 2, Ben Parkinson, Regan Jeffrey, Sam Deacon, Dylan Sandhu, Hayden Jones, Matthew Ogden & Lewis Massey.

Oadby Owls Juniors 1 Allexton & New Parks Juniors 0 - 04/11/12 (County Cup)

Oadby Owls Juniors went in to this county cup game on the back of their first league win of the season. The Owls knew they would have to be at their very best to beat the number 1 ranked team in the county - Allexton & New Parks.

The players were outstanding today with some brilliant individual performances but, ultimately it was the entire squad who won this enthralling cup tie.

In  the first half both teams cancelled each other out with some battling performances on all areas of the pitch. In the second half Luke Green scored the winner after some fine work by Dylan Sandhu on the left wing as his cross was bundled over the line by the owls captain.

My comments on the squad today are as follows:

Ryan Harris - Outstanding goalkeeping performance, handling excellent & was a great sweeper

Matthew Ogden - Solid and reliable, passed the ball well

Lewis Massey - Energetic & hard working as ever

Kier Garner-Bell - Briliant Centre back display & kept the Allexton striker quiet

Cameron Robertson - Is rapidly becoming a natural leader. Pacy & controlled aggression when needed

Regan Jeffrey - Won tackles all day and was simply superb

Luke Green - Captain's performance & work tiresly all morning

Alex Carlyle - His best performance ever in an Owls shirt

Jack Tart - Has now settled into the squad & is producing brilliant displays

Sam Deacon - Makes a great partnership on the left hand side of the pitch

Ben Parkinson - Outstanding yet again and has produced quality performances for the Owls over a number of years

Dylan Sandhu - Looked sharp on the left and produced the cross to win the game

Priyesh Thakrar - Reliable & dependable, always gives his best

Hayden Jones - Showed passion and desire to be in the starting 11

Aidan Smillie - The utility man who will always give his best in all roles that he is asked to do.

The gauntlet has been laid down lads now it is time to produce an outstanding performance like this every week. I am really pleased with what I have witnessed today and I am proud of you.

Player of the Day: The Entire Squad

Oadby Owls Juniors 7 Loughborough Dynamo 0 - 28th October 2012 (League)

The Owls won their first league game of the season with this emphatic victory. The first 25 minutes was generally a midfield battle. The Owls then scored three quick goals in the lead up to half-time. Jack Tart opened the scoring when his right foot shot beat the Loughborough keeper at the near post. The next goal came only a minute later when Sam Deacon deflected Ben Parkinson's shot past the keeper. Ben Parkinson then opened his account when he smashed in the third on the stroke of half-time.

The confidence in the players became evident after the interval and Ben Parkinson quickly added his second of the game to make it 4-0. After a series of good passing and movement on the right Jack Tart cut in off the flank to make it 5-0 with his second of the game.

As the game was drawing to a close Hayden Jones collected a superb through ball to slot calmly past the keeper to make it 6-0 and to cap the victory off Lucas Benjamin added the seventh after the Owls had built calmly from the back, he collected the ball after a series of unopposed passes to slot the ball home.

A fine 7-0 win today lads we are certainly showed the performance that this team is capable of today!

Player of the Day: Ben Parkinson - Superb performance & could have claimed a hat-trick

Goals Scorers: Ben Parkinson 2, Jack Tart 2, Sam Deacon, Hayden Jones & Lucas Benjamin

Oadby Owls Juniors 0 Aylestone Park Youth 2 - 14th October 2012 (League)

The Owls went into this fixture on the back of two successive wins in the league and county cup competitions.

The Owls went behind after only 2 minutes when a cross from the left was converted by the Aylestone striker. The Owls battled hard today and should have got on level terms when Dylan Sandhu should scored after a cross from Jack Tart. The Owls had a couple more chances with Hayden Jones & Ben Parkinson going close but went in at half time 1-0 down.

In the second half the owls continued to play well and were foiled time and time again by a terrific performance by the Aylestone keeper.

Just as the game was during to a close Aylestone scored again to win the match with the Owls pressing for that elusive equaliser.

Harsh on the players today as they played really well but need to find the net more often.

Player of the Day: Regan Jeffrey - Battled well in a great midfield performance.

Goals Scorers: None

Syston Town Juniors 0 Oadby Owls Juniors 3 - 7th October 2012 (County Cup)

The Owls went into this game on the back of a win in last week's league cup.

They dominated this fixture against fellow division 1 side Syston Town and took an early lead when Jack Tart scored direct from a corner. A series of chances followed with Matthew Ogden's thunderbolt being tipped over by the Syston keeper, Lewis Massey's 30 yard drive then being disallowed with an offside flag.

Just on the stroke of half time Hayden Jones doubled the Owls lead when he superbly placed a shot passed the Syston keeper. Half time 2-0.

Changes were made at half time with the Owls cruising to victory and soon went three - nil up when substitute Lucas Benjamin rounded the keeper to score his third goal in three games.

As the game progressed the owls piled on the pressure with the Syston Town crossbar being rattled on two more occasions by Matthew Ogden & Ben Parkinson.

Another fine win today. Well done lads a great squad performance.

Player of the Day: Sam Deacon - Classy left midfield display

Goals Scorers: Jack Tart, Hayden Jones & Lucas Benjamin

Oadby Owls Juniors 3 Leicester Nirvana 1 - 30th September 2012 (League Cup)

The Owls recorded their first win of the season in this first round league cup tie.

They took an early lead when Ben Parkinson cracked in a superb effort after only 2 minutes. The Owls then dominated the first half with some good passing but did not find another goal. As half time approached a defensive lapse let Leicester Nirvana back in to equalise.

In the second half Oadby came out a more hungrier unit and within 2 minutes of the restart great play on the left hand side by Sam Deacon put Lucas Benjamin in to smash the second past the keeper.

The confidence in the team then started to flow and then Ben Parkinson added his second for the Owls to lead 3-1. He was then very unlucky not to complete his hat-trick as his brilliant right foot shot cannoned back off the bar.

Near the end Hayden Jones was also unlucky not to open his account when his shot hit the post with Aidan Smillie lurking.

The Owls also looked dangerous from corners with both Regan Jeffrey & Alex Carlyle going close with their respective headers.

The Owls then closed out the game for a comfortable victory 3-1. Well done today lads!!!

Player of the Day: Cameron Robertson - Assured defensive display

Goals Scorers: Ben Parkinson 2 & Lucas Benjamin.

Oadby Owls Juniors 1 Barrow Town Juniors 2 - 23rd September 2012 (League)

The Owls needed to bounce back after 2 defeats so far this season. They started brightly in this game and passed the ball well. They then broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Lucas Benjamin shrugged of a Barrow defender to smash in his first goal of the season off the underside of the crossbar. Half time came with the Owls leading 1-0.

In the second half the Owls dominated the game but were unable to find any goal. Barrow broke down their left with a good cross that was only half cleared and an equaliser came.

The game seemed destined for a draw only for Barrow to snatch a winner with a goal that that the linesman had flagged for offside. Harsh result on the lads today.

Player of the Day: Lucas Benjamin - Starting to fulfil his potential

Goals Scorers: Lucas Benjamin

Aylestone Park 6 Oadby Owls 0 - 16th September 2012 (League)

Owls suffer heavy loss

3 Goals in each half were enough to sink the Owls today. The team are aware that their performance was well below the standard required and will aim to bounce back at home to Barrow Town next Sunday.

Player of the Day: Luke Green - Showed why is he captain and kept going despite a poor team performance.

Goals Scorers: None

Oadby Owls 1 Ibstock United 2 - 9th September 2012 (League)

Owls Sunk by last gasp winner

Oadby Owls took on Ibstock United in a Division A clash on Sunday 9/9/12 after both teams cancelled each other out in the first half the score was 0-0 despite a great shot from Ben Parkinson that grazed the post.

After the break Ibstock took an early lead as their striker rounded the Owls keeper Ryan Harris to score. From then on the owls went on the attack - Lewis Massey smashed the ball against the bar. Ben Parkinson then gave the Owls a deserved equaliser when he round their keeper to score.

Just as the game was petering out into a draw the Ibstock striker beat the offside trap for a winner. Harsh on keeper Ryan Harris who had a great game

Player of the Day: Lewis Massey - Impressive Debut

Goals Scorers: Ben Parkinson
