Oadby Owls Barnys 3 Hamilton Youth 0 - 1st December 2013 (League)

The Barnys dominated for most of the match but Hamilton were good in the tackle and defended their goal with some resolution. From the kick off the Barnys went on the offensive with several attacking moves involving Anay Henry and Declan In the first couple of minutes. This was followed by a number of corners for the Barnys in quick succession. Hamilton attacked for the first time but Oliver was commanding in midfield and was at the heart of a number of moves and some neat interplay between Anay, Henry and Oliver resulted in some near miss from Declan and Henry. Josh, Luke and Gurdev came on after 14 minutes as Barnys continued to look for that first goal. Josh and Luke combined well to press the Hamilton keeper into making s fine save.

Towards the end of the first half Hamilton made their presence felt in the Barnys half with Flynn making his first save of the match. It was not until the last minute of the first half that the Barnys were able to make their possession of the ball pay off with an excellent snap shot from an acute angle by Hugo.

Allexton/New parks Magpies 0 Oadby Owls Barnys 1 - 24th November 2013 (League)

This was a closely fought match. The Barnys dominated the first half but Allexton came back into the game strongly in the second half. However, the Barnys held onto their slender lead strengthening their position at the top of the table.

Allexton kicked off but from the first few seconds the Barnys attacked with attempts on goal from Declan and Henry. Tom and Luke also increased the pressure on their opponents, both having shots on goal after neat play in the middle of the park. Barnys were unfortunate not to take the lead from a Declan free kick and it was not until the 11th minute until Flyn was brought into action. Immediately after the Allexton’s first foray into their opponent’s half, the Barnys took the lead with Anay slotting the ball into the net after a good build-up.

Barnys continued to press and there were several corners, one which resulted in a snap shot at goal from Henry. Barnys were dominating but could not find a second goal despite some excellent build-up play from Henry and Anay. Finally, in the last couple of minutes of the half Allexton put pressure on the Barnys goal with some good play resulting in a looping shot which just missed the target

First Half finished -  Allexton/New parks Magpies 0 Oadby Owls Barnys 1

IN THE SECOND HALF Allexton were transformed as a team and took the attack to the Barnys forcing Gurdev and Tom to make some excellent tackles. Hugo was also alive to the challenge and made some timely tackles and runs up the wing. Allexton nearly scored directly from a corner and the rebound crashed against the post. The Barnys were really being tested now. Eventually Barnys came back into the game half way through this half and a header from Declan was on target. Henry and Anay made some excellent runs through the middle but Allexton continued to press and came close on two occasions. This was end to end stuff as the Barnys came roaring back with Luke marauding down the right wing and was unlucky to be rewarded with a goal.

To the relief of the Barnys the final whistle was blown. This was a very competitive match between two evenly matched teams, with Allexton certainly giving the Barnys a stern test.

After last week unlucky exit from the County cup can the Barnys pick up the pieces, well yes how about within the first minute of the game a Anay-jay Chauhan pass to Declan Gray to power the ball into the bottom left of the goal, a dream start to the game.

The first goal just didn’t stop there the Barnys midfield almost ran the second half with numerous runs and shots especially from Josh Baxter and the Barnys was passing the ball very fluently like we saw on the back-end of the the Barnys previous match.

In the 13th min Declan crack another goal in the back of the net from a run in centre mid, but what has kept the goal tally low for the the Barnys was the Blues Goalie which has been on excellent form to keep the second half result low.

First Half finished - Oadby Owls Barnys 2 Stoneygate Lions Blues 0

After an excellent first half performance from the Barnys can they keep playing at this immense pace?

Well the Barnys almost started  at the same pace of the first half with creating chances from midfield with example of Anay-jay Chauhan hitting the crossbar from a cracking shot  , Luke Mayes knocking it just over the crossbar And Henry Wyness had a brilliant chance on goal just to be well saved by the blues keeper , but the Blues had a number of the chances on the break with the Barny defence looking slightly shaky especially in the second half but goalie Flynn Lowe-Spicer made a number of confident saves to give the Barnys a clean sheet.

Goal number 3 came from Josh Baxter in the 30th minute run on the left mid to fire a low fast ball into a right corner of the goal, goal number 4 in the 35th minute can from a neat Henry Wyness pass to Luke Mayes within the Blues box to fire the ball into the back of the net.

Houghton Rangers Hawks 2 Oadby Owls Barnys 1 - 6th October 2013 (County Cup)

This is the second county cup game for the Barnys away to Houghton Rangers Hawks.

From the kick off in this game their wasn’t much between these team in their ability, with the barnys not quite running on all cylinders this also lead to an early goal on the 2nd minute, the Hawks shot a tricky low ball to fall nicely into the back of the net.

The Hawks continue to pressure the Barnys with their long high shots into the box, but the barnys were starting to counter attack with chances on goal from Josh Baxter, Declan Gray and Luke Mayes all going wide.

A very unsteady first half from the Barnys can they turn it round into second half.

First Half finished - Houghton Rangers Hawks 1 Oadby Owls Barnys 0

Second half the Barnys started in a very positive way with passing the ball very fluently around the pitch which we didn't see much in the second half off they are now starting to gel as a team, creating chances one of these examples were from a Hugo Feldmann run up on the left wing crosses the ball over to Declan Gray just to hit the ball over the crossbar .

There was light at the end of the tunnel with the Barnys more than halfway intp the second half in the 16th minute a Luke Mayes pass to Anay-jay Chauhan for Luke Mayes to sprint forward to receive a lay off from Anay-jay Chauhan into the box for Luke Mayes to fire home the goal to make it equal.

As the Barnys looked like they almost owned this second half on possession a very long ball from the hawks made a tricky situation in the Barnys box with the high ball being headed into the goal by the Hawks player with the sun behind him had the advantage in the 18th minute.

Good fight back from the Barnys but it wasn't to be.

Lutterworth continued their pressure and within the 8th minute scored their second goal.

The Barnys were not to be down heartened and continued to attack, going forward with superb passing in the midfield three and a sudden sprint from Declan Gray in the 10th minute a shot on goal into the left corner of the net but with a possible extra time looming the Barnys had some fine chances on goal, one example from Anay-jay Chauhan a header from a corner just going wide and with good defending from Tom Thorne, Oliver Holyland and very quick to defend right mid Josh Baxter the Barny held the very close game to extra time.

Declan Gray few chances going wide but in the 3rd Min a neat pass from Henry to set Declan Gray up for his third goal of the game and two minutes later the whistle blew for penalties

Penalties – this was the real nail biter and with both teams on par with penalties and both goal keepers on fine form with Barnys Flynn Lowe-Spicer saving of 5 penalties and has been chosen for the second sudden death penalty after Oliver Holyland nail his penalty into the left corner of the goal.

Flynn Lowe-Spicer take the penalty the ball goes centre into the back of the net the Barnys are through to the next round of the County Cup. Flynn Lowe-Spicer is Player of the day and is well and truly deserved
