Oadby Owls Eagles 1 Barlestone St Giles 0 - 10th November 2013 (League)

A fantastic fresh sunny morning welcomed a very good game of football at Coombe Park with both teams on form and in the top half of the division. This was always going to be a close match, and the Eagles started straight from the whistle and pressed forward to get an early goal.

A solid back two or Austin and Ollie D held very firm throughout the game. Ralph found himself having a lot of the ball up front due to the superb football on display from the Eagles.

The boy's were playing in midfield and feeding him with every opportunity they could, shot after shot was going in on the Barlestone goal however with the superb goal keeper they had  it would have  to be something special to beat him. And on the 15 minute mark it came, again great work in the middle with some one two's between Ollie G and Finlay G.B. and a through ball for Finley Brooks to latch onto and fire a low hard shot which went in off the inside of the post and finally into the back of the net. HT 1v 0. The coaching staff made a decision to take 3 players off and bring on 3 fresh legs ready for the second half. With Myles now up front it would bring in the midfield even more to join in the attack George Macca was now on for Ollie D at the back and kept it solid. The Eagles were playing a lot of there football down the flanks due to a very uneven muddy central parts of the pitch, and this paid off. The final score finished at one-nil to the Eagles and a big well done to them and to Barlestone for all their efforts and making it a very good game to watch.

Oadby Owls Eagles 3 Narborough Foxes 0 - 13th October 2013 (League)

The Eagles took a little while to settle into this match with the wind and rain in there faces in the first half and that slowed them down from pushing forward. Narborough were playing some nice football in the Eagles half which made the keeper Ralph Mcgarry, who was standing in for the injured Luke Stevenson, make a few good saves. The half finished all square at 0-0.

Second half started and so did the Eagles straight from the whistle they pushed Narborough further and further back into there own box and as shot after shot came in, the Narborough's  goalkeeper was outstanding in making some superb saves. Also the second half saw George Macdonald go in goal for the Eagles and Finlay G.B. up front.

Then came the first goal starting from Austin at left back passing to Ralph.  Ralph played the ball over to Morgan who set up a good finish for Finley B to score. Within minutes Finley again found himself with a lot of time but this time his shot came back off the post. The second was similar to the first great work again from the back to the front but this time the ball was put in the net by Morgan. With the Narborough player's being pushed back a little it made room for the two full backs to push right up so Austin came up to help the midfield to attack Narborough.  He found himself outside the area to make the most of a clearance from the Narborough defence straight to his feet and he sent a superb low drive into the bottom corner of the Narborough net. 3-0. Both teams played this game very well under horrible conditions so a big well done to all the player's involved.

Oadby Owls Eagles 0 Castle Donington Red Socks 3 - 22nd September 2013 (League)

Home defeat for the Eagle

The Eagles took a good 10 minutes to get started by then they where 2-0 down against Castle Donington . Then the game started to kick in and some good passes were made. It wasn't long until the whistle blew and the second half started .After a good team talk Oadby Owls were back in the game and a brilliant shot was made by Morgan but the ball unfortunately hit the post . Further into the second half Castle Donington scored again. Then a penalty was called and Luke made an excellent right handed save, which will stay famous at Coombe park for a long time.

At 3-0 the eagles had quite a hill to climb, however still tried very hard to get something out of the match.

Groby Trojans 1 Oadby Owls Eagles 3 - 8th September 2013 (League)

The Owls started their season with a convincing 3-1 away win at Groby. The Eagles goals came from Oliver G, Austin and Morgan with a cracker. Despite the long grass making it difficult to play their usual passing game, the Eagles were able to dominate the midfield with Myles, Finlay B and Oliver G providing the ammunition for Austin to give Groby all sorts of problems. George was let loose on them in the second half and he too enjoyed giving their defence a wretched time. The Eagles closed out the game with Austin and Myles providing some stability to see out the Eagles first opening day win.

Goals Scorers: Morgan, Austin, Oliver G
