Harborough Town (2012) 3 Oadby Owls Hawks 7 - 15th September (County Cup)

The game started in a cold drizzle but the Hawks got of to a bright start. In the second minute we had a corner followed up by a shot from Louis that the goalkeeper saved. We kept up the pressure and a couple of minutes later Liam made a great run and after exchanging passes with Kush, Liam scored (1-0). In the following minutes Harborough made a couple of attacks which we defended well but playing good football Oadby kept pressing forward.

In the eighth minute we won a corner which Harborough cleared, Louis picked up the ball and crossed from the left for Liam to tap in for a simple and well taken goal (2-0). Harborough tried to get back into the match but we were soon on the attack again. In the thirteenth minute Harborough had a free kick which Stef skilfully intercepted he passed to Alex who scored with a great shot (3-0).

Harborough fought back winning a corner from which they scored a goal (3-1) but Oadby are quickly back on the attack including strong runs from both Louis and Alex that forced saves from the Harborough keeper.

When Harborough did push forward Keir, Ethan and Adam did some great intercepting and tackling in defence but unfortunately Ethan had to come off injured to be replaced by Ed.

The second half ended with another goal for the Hawks, Liam collected a Harborough goal kick then passed to Louis who scored (4-1).

We started the second half pushing forward again and had a couple of shots that went just wide. On the eight minute Harborough broke quickly from their own half and scored (4-2). This was against the run of play and Oadby were soon pushing forward again with Stef having a shot that went just wide and Liam hitting the post. This was followed by a shot from Harry that forced another save but this time Liam was there to follow up and buried the ball in the back of the net (5-2) with seventeen minutes to go.

The Hawks continued their fine attacking football with a shot just wide and another that forced a great save from the opposition keeper. But it was not all one way traffic on the 48th minute Harborough went on the attack and had a shot that Harry saved well. This was followed by some good defending from Adam who cleared the ball to safety.

On 50 minutes Oadby had a series of corners that Harborough defend well. Then our pressure paid of when Roman made a great run and then passed to Alex who scores (6-2).

Harborough then won a free kick just outside our area and scored a superb goal high in to the net (6-3). With just a couple of minutes to go Roman, Steff and Keir linked together with some fine passing play that Keir ended in a shot and goal (7-3). Harborough pushed forward in the dying minutes of the game but the Hawks defended well to the final whistle.

Beaumont Town Panthers 3 Oadby Owls Hawks 7 - 8th September 2013 (League)

Team - Harry(Goalkeeper), Ethan, Edward, Adam, Dylan, Harry, Stef, Alex, Louis, Roman

The match got off to a superb start with Harry scoring in the 4th minute. After a great goal there was a bit of confusion about whether it was off side or not but since it was from a throw in it couldn't have been (1-0).  Over the next few minutes both teams had a couple of attacks and then Alex scored Oadby's second goal (2-0). The Hawks continued to apply the pressure with a couple of corners and then a shot saved by the Beaumont keeper.  It was then Beaumont who came on the attack and on 25 minutes scored a goal (2-1). A few minutes later Harry had another shot for Oadby which was just wide. This was followed up by another good attacking move from Oadby just before half time, this was capped of by a fine goal from Louis (3-1).

The second half started well with another goal from Louis (4-1). However Beaumont fought back two minutes later with a corner that ended in a goal mouth scramble from which they scored (4-2). This was followed by another Beaumont goal from a powerful shot (4-3). The Hawks are quick to respond with Alex scoring his second goal just one minute later (5-3). There then followed a period of attacks from both sides with Oadby applying most of the pressure but having to defend some dangerous opposition corners. After 20 minutes Stef made a break from the halfway line and forced a good save. The goal kick came straight back to Stef and this time he beat the keeper (6-3).

Oadby had a couple more attacks but Beaumont were still a threat and had a goal disallowed for offside and a then fired in another good cross from the right which bounced off an Oadby defender and led to an own goal (6-4). Oadby completed the victory with a hat trick goal by Louis (7-4) and were still pressing forward up the the last minute.

The whole team played well with lots of commitment.  They worked hard, fought for the ball and encouraged each other very well, however we looked a bit vulnerable from crosses and corners. There was some great attacking and some well taken goals that had all the fans cheering right to the end of the match.

Final Score - Beaumont Town 3 Oadby Owls Hawks 7
