Kegworth Imps Blues 0 Oadby Owls Tawnys 5 – 22nd January 2012 (League)

The Tawnys once again showed what an excellent passing side they are. They won the toss and played against the wind, every player put in a shift and every pass was measured and considered. Ethan Lewin completed several excellent passing moves by setting Dylan Parish up for a couple of clinically taken goals, he even won and converted a penalty after his cross was handled in the box

The second half was a more dogged affair and the Tawnys had to show their metal, Simeran Dhillon led the way with some fantastic tackling. After more good passing the Tawnys won a corner and Daniel Heaton brilliantly scored direct from the corner to make it 4-0. There was still more goals to come and another good Tawnys move led to Abhijai Tripathi making it 5-0

Fantastic result Tawnys, when you play well you look unbeatable.

Player of the Day: Simeran Dhillon

Goals Scorers: Dylan Parish (2), Ethan Lewin, Daniel Heaton and Abhijai Tripathi

Oadby Owls Tawnys 10 Beaumont Town Panthers 0 – 4th December 2011 (Friendly)

This was the game the Tawnys eventually got their reward for their weeks of hard work. Right from the kick off the Tawnys found their rhythm and played some fantastic football with a bit of steel for good measure.

It was hard to single out any one player as player of the day as all of the team played well, but Jeevan Bhogal did a fantastic job as the holding midfielder. His performance was disciplined and his distribution of the ball was always intelligent. His first half display was definitely the foundation for what turned out to be a fantastic day for all the Tawnys players.

Congratulations to all of you, you really deserved this result.

Player of the Day: Jeevan Bhogal

Goals Scorers: Dylan Parish (4), Abhijai Tripathi (3), Ethan Lewin (2) and Jovan Vincic

Royce Rangers 5 Oadby Owls Tawnys 4 – 20th November 2011 (Friendly)

This was a good opportunity for the coaching staff to try players in different positions. Once again the Tawnys proved they can score goals but defending is their Achilles heel!!

The quality of passing was second to none, and goals from Daniel Heaton, Dylan Parish and two from Jovan Vincic should have guaranteed something out of the game but unfortunately Royce Rangers scored 5!!!

The Royce Rangers manager commented that the Tawnys were the best passing side he had seen. Keep playing Tawnys you’re moving in the right direction.

Player of the Day: Dylan Parish

Goals Scorers: Daniel Heaton, Dylan Parish and Jovan Vincic (2)

Loughborough Dynamo Golds 5 Oadby Owls Tawnys 3 – 13th November 2011 (League)

During the weekly training session the Tawnys team had put a lot of work into tackling and being first to the ball, would this be the game it started to pay off?

The game started with an immaculately respected minute’s silence by both teams. Both sets of players were a real credit to their clubs.

There was a lot of good football played by both teams and both keepers were called into action early on. Loughborough made the first break through and went one up half way through the first half. The Tawnys continued playing and with Dylan Parish leading the charge they started to get “stuck in”. Eventually their hard work played off and Daniel Heaton completed a nice passage of play by scoring his first goal of the season. Disappointingly Loughborough went 2-1 up straight form the kick off and that is how the score stayed until half time.

Soon after the re-start the Tawnys won a free kick 25 yards out, Daniel Heaton stepped up; hit the ball around the wall and into the back of the net!! 2-2!! For a time the momentum was with the Tawnys but a third goal didn’t come. Eventually Loughborough got back into the game and after some tired defending they found themselves 5-2 up. The Tawnys didn’t stop playing and Ethan Lewin made the score look a little more respectable with a good strike from 25 yards.

Once the Tawnys defend as well as they can attack the illusive win they so desperately deserve will come. Keep working hard kids you will get your rewards.

Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 Barrow Town Eagles 8 – 6th November 2011 (League)

The Tawnys played as well as they could in this league game, but unfortunately they were well beaten by a very good Barrow Town Eagles team playing at the top of their game.

The Tawnys defended gallantly and managed to keep it close for most of the first half but once Barrow scored there was only ever going to be one winner.

Dylan Parish had an excellent game at left-back; he put in some fantastic tackles and distributed the ball intelligently. The Tawnys need to put this game behind them, they played well and hopefully they will not play teams of this caliber every week!!!

Player of the Day: Dylan Parish

Goals Scorers: Abhijai Tripathi

Quorn Hounds 2 Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 – 30th October 2011 (League)

On a fine day at Quorn, the Tawnys played Quorn juniors. It was a very close match, and the team played well together. It was Tawnys best match of the season yet. In the first half, Tom Liddle did some amazing saves. However, Quorn scored first with a close range effort. Tawnys went on the attack looking for an equalizer and were very close but unfortunately it was cleared off the line, and the first half finished 1 : 0 to Quorn.

After the break, Quorn scored again with Tawnys bravely trying to stop the goal. Tawnys were strong in defence and no more goals got past them. In the last few minutes of the game, after a brilliant passing move from the Tawnys, Abijay scored a fantastic goal .Sadly it came too late as the whistle blew minutes later

Barrow Town Eagles 5 Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 – 2nd October 2011 (League)

On a very hot morning in Barrow the Tawnys suffered their second defeat of the season. Barrow town scored a wonder goal in the first minute and from that moment on the Tawnys struggled to find their feet.

Jeevan Bhogal made an excellent league debut and always caused problems for the Barrow defence, at the other end Thomas Liddle had his best game yet and pulled off a string of world class saves. The Tawnys never really got going and unfortunately it was just going to be one of those days.

The one goal the Tawnys scored was a classic. From a Barrow goal kick the ball fell to Ethan Lewin on the half way line, after a quick look up he sent the ball back into the Barrow net! “David Beckham eat your heart out!”

Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 Castle Donnington 3 – 11th September 2011 (League)

The Tawnys arrived at Coombe park full of confidence after last week’s fantastic performance. The question on everyone’s mind was could they play to that high standard again?

The game kicked off and immediately the Tawnys were in the ascendancy, the attacking football that had served them so well a week earlier was now causing Castle Donnington all kinds of defensive problems. Time and time again the Tawnys had shots on goal but the ball would not go in. Captain for the day Abhijai Tripathi was involved in every attack; he really was leading by example.

With half time fast approaching and the Tawnys defence spending more and more time in the oppositions half Castle Donnington managed to score two very quick breakaway goals. The Tawnys were now up against it!

At half time the Tawnys were still full of confidence and buoyed by their good first half performance. They just needed to turn their good play into goals.

From the restart the Tawnys were back on the attack, Simeran Dhillon was outstanding, her passing and tackling were never less than brilliant! Unfortunately a Tawnys goal didn’t come and Castle Donnington scored again to make it 3-0.

This Tawnys continued to attack but the lead was too much to overcome. There was a consolation goal as a Daniel Heaton corner was deflected into the net but it just came too late.

This was another good performance and the Tawnys can once again hold their heads high.

Player of the Day: Simeran Dhillon

Beaumont Town Panthers 0 Oadby Owls Tawnys 5 – 4th September 2011 (League)

It was a miserable rainy day and we were going to Beaumont Leys to play against Beaumont Town Panthers. I had some brand new football boots on and I was very excited. The game kicked off and the Tawnys were on the attack, Dylan scored the first goal after a great pass from Daniel. A free kick was awarded and the Beaumont town goal keeper made a fantastic save. After that I scored two more goals for the Tawnys, then it was half time.

In the second half the Tawnys were on the attack again and I got my hat trick. The fantastic play continued and Abhijai scored the fifth goal for the Tawnys. Oscar kept a clean sheet and Fin, Jovan and Dylan were outstanding in defence. Simeran did some really good passing.

Birstall United Cubs 4 Oadby Owls Tawnys 2 – 20th August 2011 (Friendly fixture)

This was a fantastic game contested by two teams playing some beautiful passing football. The Tawnys had a lot of the early possession and were unlucky not to score. Birstall eventually scored the first goal which came against the run of play. The Tawnys didn’t give up and after some skilful work down the left wing the ball was crossed in for Abhijai Tripathi to score the equaliser. The Tawnys went into the half time break on level terms which was the least they deserved.

The second half saw Birstall on the attack and was it not for the brilliant tackling of captain for the day Finley Davis they could have scored a hatful. Unfortunately they scored a couple more to make it 3 – 1 but still the Tawnys didn’t give up. Ethan Lewin scored a brilliant solo goal to make it 3 – 2, the Tawny could sense a come back and they started to pile on the pressure. Simeran Dhillon caused countless problems for the Birstall defence who really put in a “Player of the Day” performance.

The Tawnys committed players forward and with the last kick of the game Birstall scored a break away goal to make it 4-2. If the Tawnys continue to play like this their much deserved victory will come. Well played Tawnys you were unlucky.

Player of the Day: Simeran Dhillon

Birstall United Cubs 2 Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 – 26th June 2011 (Friendly fixture)

This was a good game between two evenly matched teams, both teams played good football and both teams were limited to only a few half chances.

The first goal was going to be crucial to the outcome of the game and unfortunately it went to Birstall. The Tawnys didn’t give up and carried on playing some tidy football. Captain for the day Jovan Vincic had a fantastic game at Left Back and always looked comfortable on the ball.

Half way through the second half Birstall went 2-0 up, but once again the Tawnys continued to play good football and this time they were rewarded when Abhijai Tripathi scored a neat goal; the Tawnys were back in it! Despite the Tawnys best efforts another goal didn’t come but this was a good performance and the Tawnys can be proud.

Oscar Johnson gave a MOM performance in goal and has really settled into the team well. He pulled of some great saves and distributed the ball intelligently.

Player of the Day: Oscar Johnson

Oadby Owls Tawnys 0 Thrapston Town (Northants) 2

Oadby Owls Tawnys 0 Market Bosworth 0

Oadby Owls Tawnys 0 Aylestone Park 94 0

Oadby Owls Tawnys 0 Studs Juniors 2

Oadby Owls Tawnys 1 Thurlaston Magpies 0

This tournament was the first time the completely new Tawnys squad had been together for any kind of competitive fixtures. It gave the coaches a chance to try players in different positions and see what the most effective formation and team might be. The Tawnys had a mixed bag of results. They had a slow start but improved considerably after lunch (refuelling on hot dogs and burgers is obviously the way forward!).

Simeran Dhillon had an excellent debut and looked accomplished in all positions. She repeatedly impressed the crowd and coaching staff alike with her skills and passing. Thomas Liddle had an outstanding tournament in goal. He pulled off numerous wonder saves including one in the last game which secured a well deserved 1-0 victory and ensured a happy end to the day.

Player of the Day: Thomas Liddle

Goals Scorers: Finley Davis and Daniel Heaton
